Lindsey & Jackaroo Jo & Coquelles
Cat & Raine |
What a great start to the competition season we've had! Firstly, the Isis team won the Riding Club Challenge held with the Winter Championships at Hartpury in April. Sheena & Fleur were part of this success and came back with the most beautiful rosette & goody bag from Naf Products. Pretty much the whole crew have been out and about at dressage competitions - Lindsey & Jackaroo winning the Walk/Trot Test at the Isis Crown Farm show with 68% and then 2nd in their first Prelim test with 71%. Jo & Coquelles, Claudine & Peter, Vix & Solomon & Sheena & Custou joined in the outing, with the show being organised by Anne with Lindsey assisting. What a mad day that was - on the yeard for 5.15am - horses were fed, mucked out & turned out by 6.45am and we were all on the showground by 7.30am. A long, tiring day for the whole team, but very enjoyable. Whilst Lindsey was away in Devon enjoying a workshop with Jenny Rolfe www.ridefromtheheart.co.uk (more on that soon), Jo, Claudine, & Anne endured the worst of the weather at the Gainfield Dressage competition on Sunday 17 May. All enjoyed the day, with some wetter than others! The show-jumps are beginning to make an appearance again - much to the delight of Fleur, Coustou & Solomon (not to mention Vicky & Sheena) and cross country schooling is on the agenda for later this month. Cat is also enjoying jumping her Appaloosa, Raine, once again and hopes to enjoy the summer competitions after she is free from her exams. The first eventing outing is now on the calendar for Fleur & Solomon and as you can imagine, Sheena & Vix can't wait! Following on from the success of our first on-site workshop, which covered all you need to know about preparing for a dressage competition, we are pleased to announce the next event - Lunging & Long-Reining, which takes place Sat 23 May. Please see the seperate page for full details of this. The warm, wet weather has meant that our grazing is looking amazing & we are working on increasing the number of paddocks to allow for careful rotation. This allows us plenty of space for a grass dressage arena & show-jump field. The next outing for those of us competing is the late May bank holiday, where Jo, Lindsey & Vix are all representing Isis in the Kings Leaze RC inter-club challenge. Sheena is taking Custou for an outing also.
